Pets Pantry Northampton
Pets Pantry is a small independent pet shop located at 17 Collingwood Road in Northampton. Being a local shop must be tough in the modern world in which we live. You not only have the huge megastores like Pets At Home on retail parks but you also have the global domination of Amazon who will sell lots of pet related items at low prices and deliver to your door. For those who like to support the local independent let’s look at what they have to offer.
Pets Pantry Northampton – Highly Rated & Helpful
A shop of this size can’t possibly stock as wide a range as a much larger pet shop. They do try and stock the most popular items though and the owner will often make the effort to order any item they don’t stock. Looking at some of the reviews it seems the locals are happy with the service offered by Pets Pantry. It’s often the case that you will get a better level of service from an independent, partly because you are usually being served by the actual owner who probably has years of experience within the pet industry.
As mentioned earlier, Pets Pantry is located on Collingwood Road. There is no dedicated car park but there is on street parking with no restrictions. Hopefully you should be able to find parking close by at most times of the day. On the subject of time of day now would be a good time to mention their opening hours. As you would probably expect, a small pet shop like this is never likely to have the extended opening hours of somewhere like Pets At Home. I have a feeling the opening hours have changed over the years, perhaps even post Covid. Currently the listed opening hours are as follows:
- Monday 10am-4pm
- Tuesday 10am-4pm
- Wednesday Closed
- Thursday 10am-4pm
- Friday 10am-4pm
- Saturday 10am-2pm
- Sunday Closed
As you can see for those people who work full time chances are you will only be able to visit on Saturday. With the busy lives most of us lead these days it’s understandable that some consumers will prefer the extended opening hours of a pet superstore or the convenience of online shopping. However for people who might be retired or work shifts, Pets Pantry might be a good option. It’s very well suited to those who live nearby who perhaps don’t own a car.
Thompson Tails Dog Grooming
Some of those passing through the doors of Pets Pantry may actually be there to have their dog groomed. It seems Thompson Tails Dog Grooming works from the same location. This sort of symbiotic relationship probably works for both parties. I don’t know the relationship but I assume the groomer pays a fee to groom there which helps Pet Pantry with their overhead costs. There is also the chance that people dropping off or collecting their dog from grooming will perhaps buy something from the shop at the same time.
Having looked at reviews of Thompson Tails Dog Grooming it seems they are popular with customers. I noticed they list another address on their own website in NN3 so perhaps they also perform grooming at home at times when Pet Pantry is closed.
Pets Pantry Summary
It seems Pets Pantry is one of those small independent shops trying to do all it can to survive in a tough climate for the high street retailer. If it’s a pet shop that you have used I would welcome your feedback about your experience by leaving a comment below.
