Itch Relief For Dogs – Warriorbullz Allergy +

Is your dog scratching? Are you looking for ideas that might help provide itch relief for dogs? Well I’d like to share our experience with our Border Collie called Archie in the hope it might help some of you. One of the obvious reasons a dog might scratch is due to fleas but I want to point out that this article isn’t aimed at that scenario. If however your dog doesn’t have fleas but they are still itching and scratching then read on.

Our Itchy Dog History

It’s fair to say that Archie our Border Collie is more sensitive to his environment than most dogs. It’s also true that my partner Ewelina will spare no expense in making sure our dog is in the best health possible.

Archie first started itching some years ago. Initially we thought it was just a seasonal allergy. The vet prescribed Apoquel and the first time we tried it the scratching stopped almost immediately. We didn’t want Archie to be on this medication for life though due to concerns about side effects. For us is was much better to try and find the cause of the itching and to use natural products where possible.

When the itching returned in the Autumn we began to question whether it was purely down to seasonal allergies. Indeed the 2nd course of Apoquel didn’t seem to work and it was around this time we switched to raw feeding. We also like to purchase various natural products that claim to have health benefits for dogs and a combination of whatever we used seemed to be working. We move on a few years later and just recently our dog started itching again. Interestingly the return of the scratching and the clumps of black and white fur on the carpet coincided at the same time that we ran out of an allergy product that we had been adding to his food, namely Warriorbullz Allergy +.

Natural Itch Relief In Dogs – Warriorbullz Allergy +

Warriorbullz Allergy + comes in a 200g packet which can cost around £10.00. The recommended dose is based on the weight of your dog and is quoted as half a teaspoon per 10kg. Our Border Collie is closer to 30kg than 20kg but we still only use a teaspoon a day.

The product contains 3 key ingredients that are claimed to help with allergies as follows:

  • Bee Pollen. Contains Quertin, a natural antihistamine. When used regularly it can help lessen the symptoms and allergic reactions in dogs. It should be noted that they state that Bee Pollen should not be given to pregnant dams.
  • Spirulina. A source of fatty acids which can help maintain healthy skin. Another natural antihistamine and great for itchy dogs and those who suffer from seasonal allergies.
  • Coconut flour. Gluten free as some dogs can have issues with Gluten. Contains vitamin B6, vitamin C, calcium and potassium.

In our case our dog went without Warriorbullz Allergy + for about 2 weeks when the product was out of stock and the itching and scratching started. Once we received our order we noticed that it took about a week from using the product for the itching to drastically reduce. During this time we also sprayed our dog with a product we make up that contains equal parts of Apple Cider Vinegar, Filtered Water and Decaff Green tea. I would like to point out that we use Apple Cider Vinegar with Mother. Mother is essentially the culture of beneficial bacteria that transforms apple cider into venegar. We don’t routinely use this product if our dog isn’t scratching but will create a new batch just to try and reduce the scratching when it starts again.
