Wedding Dog Chaperone - K9 Weddings

New Wedding Dog Chaperone Service

We recently decided to expand on the pet services we provide by offering a wedding dog chaperone service. In this article we will discuss the reasons behind this decision and what we have planned for the coming year.

Dog Chaperone Service – K9 Weddings

Wedding dog chaperone services are still a relatively new type of pet service but one we have been aware of for a number of years. I previously built a website for someone offering these services in Scotland and I have even been asked if I provide these services myself in the past.

Previously I was busy Monday to Friday with dog walks, often out long hours. As a result I didn’t really want to give up my weekends which is when most weddings take place. Then between 2020 and 2022 I was working full time in pet transport, often working at weekends. Once I sold the pet transport business I had to decide what I wanted to do next. I enjoy dog walking and pet sitting but didn’t want to return to doing 6 or 7 walks a day. Also since Covid the pet services industry has changed. More and more people are working from home part of the week. It’s now quite rare to get customers who want dog walks 5 days a week. Whilst demand for dog walking services have decreased, demand for dog boarding and day care have increased greatly. We offer a live in dog boarding service which is proving to be very popular but the idea of offering a dog chaperone service returned.

Rather than add it as another service to Premium Dog Walkers, I took the decision to start a new dedicated business for the wedding dog chaperone service. The main reason for doing this was that I wanted to brand things slightly differently. Those offering wedding services tend to use certain colours and fonts, perhaps because it’s usually the bride who makes most wedding decisions or because weddings are expensive, luxury events. In any case I knew I wanted to use a peach colour scheme and a script font for headings, something I would probably not do for a dog walking website.

When starting a new business one of the first important decisions is what to call it. You will have to live with the name once you’ve chosen it so it’s important to get it right. Liking your choice is only part of the battle, you need to pick a name where the domain name is available. In the last few years I’ve had a preference for short domain names and I wanted something short this time. It took me a few days to settle on K9 Weddings and I was then able to start building the new website.

Our plans for 2023

We don’t expect to be have many dog chaperone bookings this year. Weddings are often booked well in advance but we will be busy building our brand in the meantime. I’ve already started to buy dog bandanas and other outfits for dogs. I just need some dog models now so that I have images for a gallery and for use on social media. I’m also contacting dog friendly wedding venues and others in the wedding services industry so that I have articles that I can blog about which may be of interest to wedding couples. If you happen to run a wedding business of some description, especially in Northamptonshire or bordering counties feel free to get in touch. We would be happy to form mutually beneficial relationships, swap website links or feature articles about related businesses on our website.
